Swim and Dive is a Winter Sport

Our Season begins October 16, 2017 and will run through the first weekend of February for State Qualifiers; Non State Qualifiers will be finished at the end of January.

What does my Swimmer/Diver need before practice starts?

They will need to have a current physical completed, proof of insurance coverage, liability waiver, concussion awareness, parent release, County Code of Conduct, and Emergency Contact information before they are allowed to participate in optional dry land conditioning and/or get into the pool. You can find copies of this information to download and print on the Lanier Athletic website and under the Physical & Insurance Forms tab on this website.

Please remember this is a competition swim team, not swim lessons. Gwinnett County is one of the top 3 most competitive counties in this state for this sport. You do not need to know all of the strokes when you come in, but you do need to already know how to swim. Diving needs no prior experience; however, a background as a cheerleader, tumbler, or gymnast is a huge advantage!

Swimmers and divers both need to bring with them to each of their practices: a practice swim suit that is one piece (this is not the uniform suit included with dues which will be ordered at a later date), towel(s), gym clothes, shoes and socks (please check the weather and dress yourself accordingly, some days will be hot, cold, rainy, and/or dry at any given time for our season), gym bag to put everything in, and cap and goggles (swimmers only for this last one).

Try outs week will be October 16-20, 2017 during practice. Swimmers will need to be able to swim at least 2 different events legally and be on track to meet a specific time standard in order to maintain status on the team. Divers will have separate accommodations and practices. These will be given to you by your dive coach.

Uniforms/ Optional Gear: New team suits are mandatory for new athletes but are optional for returning athletes.  Uniform consists of a swim suit, goggles, and swim cap.  Goggles are mandatory, but must be purchased separately.  You are only allowed one logo on uniform items, so please keep this in mind when purchasing goggles/caps.  For example, if there is Speedo repeated on the strap that would not be allowed in competition.
